Something old becoming something new

So I made a bracelet for my mom back a year or so ago, but, because it was one of the first pieces I made, it had some issues and I had to fix it...but then I completely forgot about it and the only reason I remembered it was because of a forum topic I was posting to on etsy.

It's made from pink, pearlescent white and pearlescent pink plastic beads and features three silver charms, a cross, a ribbon and a flower.  I also used tiger's tail as the 'string' for it, which was really difficult for me to work with at first, but when I went to repair it I had a much easier time than when I had originally put it all together.

What happened that caused it to be unwearable, was that the ends were poking back through, so when she went to wear it it was occasionally poking her.  I ended up just completely restring it to make the beads fit tighter so there wouldn't be space for things to rub and shift around and it appears to be working out perfectly for her.  I made it for her soon after she received her test results back from her biopsy which showed that she didn't have breast cancer, obviously a huge relief, and I wanted to give her something to celebrate.

Who turned out the lights?

I finally decided on a name for my blog today while sitting around not doing homework.  I wanted a place where I could discuss my various creative loves, which include (but definitely not limited to), cooking, baking, jewelry making as well as my love for beer and wine tasting.

I wanted a place where I could slow down and relish these things that enrich my life and have a place to come back to when I'm feeling the stress of the 'rat race'. As with all beginnings, things may be awkward at first, but once I get the hang of it I'm sure it'll be a wonderful ride.

Cheers.
